Chesterfield function venue: Christmas festivities 2014

Well it’s that time of year again and here in at Ashover Parish Hall Events Centre the Christmas celebrations are coming thick and fast. December is one of the busiest months of the year full of fun, laughter and joy.

Christmas is a time for celebrating relationships, both family and friends and gives us the chance to exchange gifts and spend time with the people who matter to us.  At Ashover Parish Hall our function venue is used to host special social occasions throughout the year, but especially at Christmas where our guests can enjoy the magical atmosphere created by the dark nights and the stunning Christmas decorations.

We’ve already hosted Christmas lunches for the OAP’s, the Ashover Flower club, and the Clay Cross Swimming Club. Events such as these really show the special community spirit here in the village and we are proud to be able to provide a quality community facility.

Tonight sees Ashover Brass Band perform their annual Christmas concert. If you are in the area come and down for a sing along and get into the Christmas spirit. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door.

The Ashover Toddlers are having their Christmas party next week and Father Christmas will be making appearance but will he poll up on a tractor like he did last year? Let’s hope the toddlers have been good this year and not had too many terrible two style tantrums! (But they are all so cute!)

Also this week we have local celeb Jonathan Moseley’s (resident floral expert on the BBC’s Big Allotment Challenge) Christmas floral art workshops. So big was the demand that Jonathan had to book an extra day. The ladies of Ashover will no doubt be taking home some wonderful creations to turn their homes into floral winter wonderlands – just as they did last year.

Next weekend we have a winter wedding at the centre. Christmas weddings are always a little bit unusual, they seem to have an extra bit of magic and are always special, especially if you are lucky enough to get a light dusting of snow – not so much that the guests can’t get here though! If you are planning a wedding (or maybe you will receive/buy a special ring this Christmas?), winter or summer, in 2015/2016, make sure you check out the wedding section of our website to see what we can offer you.

The night before Christmas Eve is the Ashover Young Farmers Christmas party which is always crazy! They can’t ‘half sup’ as we say here in Derbyshire but it’s all good fun and the bar takings boost the centre’s coffers to we can continue to offer a good value facility to local people.

After the New Year we will be hosting the annual Parish Party and Pantomime which this year will be Mother Goose. If it’s anything like last years’ chaotic comedy everyone will have a great time! One thing we don’t want to see a repeat of from last year is the director falling and breaking her hip at the first rehearsal! The show went on, as it must, but when we tell the actors to ‘break a leg’ (or a hip), we don’t mean it literally! The Pantomime is always popular – so much so that this year sees a three night run instead of the usual two.

So there is lots of festive celebrations going on and lots still to look forward to here at the centre. Looking ahead to next 2015 we will again be busy with weddings, anniversaries, parties and concerts – just the way we like it.
